Let them eat cake - if they want!
How to make your wedding cakes match your celebration.
We are Connecticut-based event planners who believe the desserts you serve at your wedding should reflect you and your love story. Here are some tips we recommend:
Do you even like cake?
If the answer is yes, then have cake! If the answer is no, then don’t! One of our couples had no vision for their wedding dessert but knew they wanted to skip cake and showcase donuts instead. We went big and had Decco Party Up create a massive donut wall. Guests danced the conga line to the donuts! On the other hand, another couple loved cake so much that we hired the famous Charm City Cakes to create a custom, one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The design included Fabergé eggs and a hand-painted replica of the venue’s ceiling. It was a vision!
Customize it
Add personal touches to your cake—flavors, designs, or toppers. Wedding cake trends come and go—vintage lace, naked cakes, or clean and simple styles—so make the trend work for you. For example, one of our past brides, Emily, was a graphic designer who created the wedding stationery. We kept the vibe going by sending her designs to the bakery, which brought them to life. The best part of cakes? You don’t need the same flavor for every tier. Go bold, play to the crowd, or pick each of your favorites.
To freeze or not to freeze
Traditions fill our souls! However, this is one exception to the rule—only about one-third of our couples still freeze their cake to share a bite on their first anniversary. If you want fresh cake for your anniversary, simply call the baker and ask them to make a mini anniversary cake. The moral of the story? Have all the cake!
Consider hiring a wedding planner to help decide what’s right for you.
