Self Care During Wedding Planning

Staying present and avoiding burn-out during wedding planning

We are Connecticut based event planners who believe that the engagement period is such an important chapter’s love story. Media often showcases wedding planning as stressful time that put a strain on couple’s relationships and health. This doesn’t have to the the story. Self care is one of the core values of Luna & Charlie Events. We define self care as taking care of the well being of emotional, physical, physiological, and spiritual health. Here’s some tips that we recommend:

  1. Have dedicated wedding planning hours

Schedule wedding chats to make sure wedding conversations don’t encompass every conversation with your fiancé. It will also help ensure tasks get completed with deadlines. Make it fun by having these chats while you are on a walk, sipping coffee, or dinner date.

  2. Carve out friendship time

Building a strong relationship with your fiancé is important, but it’s just as important to spend time with your besties. While hanging out with your friends try to limit the wedding talk. As much as they would love to hear all the details you need to take some breaks. If you need to chat about the wedding, hire a planner.

  3. Have the cake

We do not promote having our couple’s go on a wedding diet. We think you should look and feel like your true self on your wedding day. We do recommending eating healthy and working out during all chapters of your life. Healthy eating and working out helps your mental health and physical body. Simple 20 minute work-outs including walks or yoga can make all the difference in the world. Make your life easier with having healthy meal services like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron during the week while indulging in take-outs and all things yummy on the weekends. Some of the best part of wedding planning is the catering and cake tasting. Have all the cake!

  4. Clear mind, full heart

Are you a person needs to talk things out, clear you mind yourself, or a little of both? Make time for therapy, meditation, prayer, journaling, or hobbies. You mind need escapes during big life changing period to limit the stress. It could be binging on a reality show, playing video games, to reading books.

  5. You fancy, huh?

Don’t wait for the big day to pamper yourself. Get manicures to show off the bling. Get massages to release tension in your body. Focus on skin care routines from facials, baths, to moisturizing. When you focus on your skin care not only while your skin glow, but you will also feel relaxed.

  6. Have Fun

Make time for your hobbies and don’t forget to laugh. Carve out time for your personal hobbies and hobbies that share with your partner. Engagement shouldn’t just be wedding planning. You and your partner should continue to build your relationship. Consider an engagement moon which tends to check all the boxes of fun.

Consider hiring a wedding planner to help alleviate the stress and spend even more time on self care.
