Tented CT Summer Wedding

Summer Wedding at the Hartford Canoe Club in Connecticut with a Clear Top Tent

There are so many details I loved about this summer wedding at the Hartford Canoe Club on the CT River. Erin and Joe reached out to me while I was on a site visit in Texas for another couple, funny enough they lived in Texas and were planning a wedding in Connecticut. It felt like kismet. My top three favorite moments about this wedding was teaming up with my best friend, being the first wedding hosted at the Hartford Canoe Club, and the story-book father-daughter moments that were shared.

Trisha Keeler from Trisha Keeler Photography and I have been kindred spirits over the last few years. We started as industry friends and quickly realized we were soul sisters. We don’t get to work together nearly as often as we would like. We were ecstatic when the stars aligned and we finally had the chance to work a wedding together! I knew she would crush it for our bride and groom, but I didn’t realize how much seeing her face would make me feel at ease and smile so much. Hands down, it is an absolute dream come true when you get to work with a close knit team of professionals. Not only does it make for cohesive and well orchestrated events - It’s pure magic.

The Harford Canoe Club is one of the oldest clubs in CT and recently underwent an outdoor face-lift. They added on a patio which is a perfect ceremony location. Off the patio you are greeted with a sprawling green lawn, flat and a dream come true for tented weddings. I typically never have clear-top tents in the end of June due to the humidity, but the area had so much shade and cross -breeze that it worked wonderfully. Events on the water have the dreamiest views, but wind is always a factor. It is important to keep that in mind while designing the look. We came up with several design combinations for the table top look to ensure we were prepared for anything. On the day of the event, the napkins and place cards blew all over place. The Luna and Charlie team sprung into action and quickly pivoted to plan B. Even though I’m a traditionalist when it comes to placing flatware, it acted as a perfect weight for functionality. Looking back at the photos you never would have known there was ever a plan A.

I am a big fan of first looks for couples, but having a father/daughter first look give me all the feels. Erin’s father has 3 sons and 1 daughter. He has been looking forward to this day her whole life. Have a moment to pause and really focus on togetherness is so important. Check out his tie that had a photo of him and her when she was a baby sewn into it. Okay - I’m crying!
