Rock & Roll Wedding for the Ages
Iconic Wedding at the Capitol Theatre, Portchester, New York
Was this a wedding or rock concert? You be the judge. Ling & Pete met while Pete’s band was performing at The Capitol Theatre’s bar, Garcia’s (named after the Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead.) Ling was smitten and even got a selfie from their first encounter. Fast forward to Pete proposing at Jazz Fest. Ling ‘s favorite movie is iconic Almost Famous. Are you seeing a theme here? Getting married at Capitol Theatre was a must! The bridal suite at the venue is the dressing room that was used by Janis Joplin and so many more legends.
We brought in Jes Gordon from Proper Fun to design an enchanted rock & roll look. She was the perfect fit for this job. The look that she created was more than a table arrangement. The ceremony details were epic and so thoughtful. The lyrics to “Our House” were written on the aisle runner. The end of the aisle had vintage 70’s rugs with backdrop of candles while purple feathers cascaded from the ceiling.
Every detail was curated and intentional especially the music; 4 bands performed plus piped in music. Our jobs weren’t just wedding planners, we were a production team in the sound booth. The escort display was weren’t your typical table numbers, there were named after artists who performed at the venue. The mother of the bride was able to obtain photos of the artists performing at The Capitol Theatre. The drum kit wedding cake from Lovely Cakes looked so real a guest almost banged on it! I have never seen a dance floor more packed. It felt like concert as every guest was dancing the entire time.
The favors were cookies of venue, concert t-shirts, and posters. The concert swag was a perfect match to the vibe. This will go down as one of my favorite weddings ever. No two couples are the same which means no two weddings the same. We find our joy in creating weddings that are unique to our couple’s love story.
